Tennessee has landed a commitment from an elite pass rusher on the first day of the Early Signing Period. 4-star EDGE Jordan Carter, who was formerly pledged to Texas A&M, has committed to the Vols, according to On3.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Carter is regarded by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 23 EDGE and the No. 22 prospect from Georgia. Carter is also considered the 203rd best player in the nation.

“Go Vols. I’m home,” Carter told On3.

Carter took an official visit to Tennessee on Nov. 15. He has been extremely productive on defense as a pass rusher. Carter amassed 83 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 18 sacks during his senior season. For his high school career, he has tallied 223 tackles, 51 tackles for loss, and 44 sacks.

Carter initially committed to Texas A&M in Oct. 2024 before backing out of his pledge on Nov. 1.

Tennessee has had an excellent Signing Day. The Vols’ class is ranked fifth nationally according to 247Sports. Tennessee has a pair of 5-star prospects as well as 15 4-star players for its class. Only Alabama, ranked at No. 4 in the country by 247Sports, is above Tennessee in the SEC.
