Texas says ‘technical difficulties arose once again’ with ESPN for Steve Sarkisian postgame interview

The ESPN on ABC crew had trouble getting interviews with Texas coach Steve Sarkisian on Saturday night.
Laura Rutledge relayed that technical issues prevented her from getting a halftime interview during the Texas-Ohio State game. After Texas’s thrilling fourth-quarter comeback to pull off the stunning win over a top-ranked Ohio State team, ESPN reporter Holly Rowe was in position to get postgame comments from Sarkisian.

Instead, when the ESPN cameras cut to Rowe with Sarkisian, the head coach offered only “Texas fight! Hook ’em!” before running off, leaving Rowe visibly frustrated by the situation.

While to many viewers it appeared that Sarkisian was blowing off Rowe, The Athletic reports that there was more to the situation. While some might assume Sarkisian was giving ESPN a hard time over the earlier technical issues, Christopher Karmani writes that technical issues arose again.
According to a Texas spokesperson, ESPN’s technical difficulties arose once again on the field postgame, which played a role in Sarkisian’s demeanor with Rowe.
It’s not immediately clear why ESPN was having so much trouble interviewing Sarkisian live on air, but apparently it wasn’t meant to be on Saturday night in Austin.
