The SEC is the only conference in FBS above .500 in non-con play through Week 2

The SEC not only earned a huge feather in its cap for the 2026 season when Texas toppled Ohio State with a comeback for the ages in the fourth quarter on Saturday night.
It was also part of a positive trend that has catapulted the SEC into the top spot, by far, in non-conference record against Power 4 teams. The Longhorns’ 24-23 victory in Austin over the beast from the Big Ten was the headliner win in the SEC building up an 8-2 non-conference mark against Power 4 teams through Week 2.
Not only is the SEC 8 of 10 in those situations so far this year, which is an incredible pace when facing fellow Power 4 teams, but the SEC is also the only FBS conference to be over .500 in those matchups.
Compared to the other 3 Power 4 conferences in those matchups, the SEC has a huge advantage so far. The ACC has the next-best nonconference record against Power 4 teams at 5-6, with the Big 12 coming in at 4-6 so far and the Big Ten bringing up the rear among Power 4 conferences at 3-7.
