Georgia is paying a premium price to reboot its offense this offseason.

We already knew that Georgia was prepared to pay Todd Monken $1.1 million to serve as Kirby Smart’s offensive coordinator in 2020 and now we know the first-year Bulldog assistant is set to make $1.25 million for the 2021 season and $1.4 million for the final year of his current deal, in 2022.

The full details of Monken’s three-year deal at Georgia were first reported by Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald.

Details of the offensive coordinator’s buyout were also shared as Monken would owe the school 20 percent of the remaining salary left on his current contract should he leave Georgia for the NFL or to take over another college program.

Before landing in Athens, Monken served as an offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Monken also has experience serving as head coach of Southern Miss, from 2013-2015, and as offensive coordinator for Oklahoma State in 2011 and 2012.

In his first year with the Cowboys, Oklahoma State went 12-1, won the Big 12 and nearly made the BCS National Championship Game — finishing the season ranked as the No. 3 team in the nation.

Those are the results Georgia fans will be expecting in Athens with Monken running the offense, of course, with a final ranking a couple of spots higher.
