Trinidad Chambliss and Lane Kiffin can’t talk… but social media is a different story

If there was ever proof that the wild West mentality thrives in college football, look no further than the evolving saga with Lane Kiffin and Trinidad Chambliss.
Chambliss, the Ole Miss quarterback who is both preparing for Thursday’s Sugar Bowl against Georgia and petitioning for a sixth season of eligibility, insisted earlier this week that he and Kiffin – the LSU coach who brought him to Ole Miss in 2025 – had not spoken.
That declaration may be true, but there is at least some form of communication between Chambliss and Kiffin… in the form of social media reposts.
That’s right, Kiffin – who seemingly misses nothing when it comes to social media, reposted a reporter’s recap of what Chambliss said. And that comes after reporting that Ole Miss officials are concerned about tampering by assistant coaches who departed Oxford to join Kiffin at LSU but were allowed to coach the Rebels through their CFP run.
Making Thursday’s Sugar Bowl matchup between Ole Miss and Georgia (8 pm ET, ESPN) even spicier is that Kiffin could be in attendance as a guest of Louisiana governor Jeff Landry to watch his former team play in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.
Never change, Lane Kiffin. Never change.
