They were simply not going to keep Virginia off the field after the Cavaliers shocked No. 8 Florida State in Charlottesville Friday night.

Down to their last down in double overtime trailing 46-38, Seminoles quarterback Tommy Castellanos looked for one more miracle. Facing heavy pressure, he heaved the ball towards the back corner of the end zone for receiver Squirrel White.

At least he thought it was going to the back corner. The Cavs pass rush forced Castellanos to underthrow the ball, which fell incomplete right at the goal line. Virginia fans were at midfield pretty much immediately.

As in, this was the fastest field storming perhaps ever undertaken. Check it out:

As you can see, both White and the Virginia defender were enveloped pretty much instantly after the ball hit the ground. A few fans on social media were genuinely concerned that White may have been trampled, but he was seen in other photographs walking off the field.

Virginia deserved this win. Cavs quarterback Chandler Morris accounted for 5 touchdowns against the Seminoles, 2 through the air and 3 on the ground. The Hoos quarterback threw 3 interceptions on the afternoon, but Virginia’s defense was able to even the turnover margin with 2 interceptions and a forced fumble.

The Cavaliers have just one loss on the season, at NC State, 35-31, in Week 2. It seems likely that Virginia will be ranked in next week’s AP Poll.
