As college football nears the penultimate week of the 2025 regular season, all eyes are on Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.

It seems as though Kiffin is seriously considering a move from Oxford even as he’s led the Rebels to a 10-1 start. Members of Kiffin’s family reportedly visited both Baton Rouge and Gainesville last week ahead of a potential decision.

Lane Kiffin: Ole Miss, Florida or LSU?

Let’s break down some of the options Kiffin has.

Will Lane Kiffin be the next head coach at LSU?

Kiffin to LSU has been the hot rumor this week. Florida appears to still be in the mix (more on the Gators below), but LSU may have an edge in this apparent battle for Kiffin’s services.

Both LSU and Florida have had peaks and valleys over the last quarter century, but the Tigers have won more often, in more ways, and with more coaches. Before Brian Kelly, each of the previous 3 LSU coaches won the national title. Florida, meanwhile, has not made a successful coaching hire since it lured Urban Meyer away from Utah in the mid-aughts.

LSU also has a unique recruiting situation. There’s plenty of talent in Louisiana, and LSU is the only major program in the state. Florida is perhaps the most talent-rich state in the country, but the Gators have to contend with Florida State, Miami, and numerous other SEC schools that make recruiting in the Sunshine State a priority.

Thanks to prediction markets like Kalshi, we have an idea of where the tide may be turning with regard to Kiffin’s future. Here’s a live look at the top candidates for the LSU job on Kalshi:

Will Lane Kiffin be the next head coach at Florida?

Although most objective fans and media would say LSU is a better job than Florida, reasonable people have pointed out that Gainesville may be a better fit for Kiffin. If for nothing else, Kiffin seems to be modeling his media style after the legendary Steve Spurrier, who coached the Gators from 1990-2001.

Kiffin has also coached in the state of Florida before. When he left his role as Alabama’s offensive coordinator, Kiffin became the head coach at Florida Atlantic and spent 3 years in Boca Raton. Kiffin may ultimately decide his style — both on the field and on social media — is a better fit at Florida than it would be at LSU.

Expectations would be sky-high at either program. LSU had no problem showing Les Miles and Ed Orgeron the door in relatively short order, even after they won national titles. The decision to part ways with Brian Kelly was even quicker and came with even greater financial consequences.

But Florida hasn’t exactly been patient with its coaches in the post-Meyer era, either. Will Muschamp won 11 games in 2012 and was gone less than 2 years later. Jim McElwain won 19 games in his first 2 years and was gone midway through Year 3. Dan Mullen won 10-plus games twice and didn’t make it to the end of Year 4.

Here’s what the Kalshi market says about Kiffin’s chances to go to Florida:

Will Lane Kiffin leave before the Egg Bowl?

It’s been reported that Ole Miss has given Kiffin a hard deadline to decide on his future. The program would reportedly like Kiffin to commit to signing an extension before the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State on Nov. 28. It’s worth noting that Kiffin has publicly denied that report, but Kalshi has a market posted on whether or not Kiffin will leave Oxford before Nov. 28.

This market is destination-agnostic — all that matters is whether Kiffin leaves or announces he will leave Ole Miss before that date.

Here’s a look at the current prices, with ‘no’ as a slight favorite as of publication:
