Former Florida slugger Jac Caglianone is taking professional baseball by storm, and the Kansas City Royals are promoting the first baseman yet again.

On Sunday, the Royals confirmed that Caglianone is headed to the Triple A level after 38 games in Double A to begin the season. That move sends Caglianone to the Omaha Storm Chasers, and it’s possible Caglianone’s trajectory is for a mid-season call-up in his 2nd professional season.

Caglianone joined the Royals as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft after an electric 2-way career in Gainesville. However, his focus in the minors has been as a slugger, and that’s understandable given his potential as a generational power hitter.

Last season, Caglianone began his career with 29 games at the High A level and experienced the understandable struggles of making the mid-year jump from college baseball to the professional ranks. He did hit 2 home runs and 9 doubles, but struck out 26 times with a .690 OPS.

However, Caglianone opened his 2nd season at Double A and has been hot across the first 38 games of the season. He is slashing .322/.394/.553 with 9 home runs, 8 doubles and 32 runs scored. Strikeouts have still been a problem at times (37 on the season), but Caglianone is showing the translateable power and hit tool to keep progressing through the system.
