Former Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs has monster game during Lions’ Week 3 win over Jets

Former Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs and the Detroit Lions got all they could handle from the New York Jets during a Week 3 gamt at Ford Field.
The Lions, though, held serve in the end at home despite blowing a 24-10 lead. Gibbs’ 11-yard touchdown catch with 2:25 remaining helped Detroit beat New York 31-24 to move to 2-1 on the season. He finished with 164 yards from scrimmage and three total touchdowns.
Sunday was a vintage Gibbs performance. His game-winning touchdown was part of a seven-catch, 65-yard afternoon. He put together a solid day on the ground, too, taking 20 carries for 99 yards and two scores. Rushing touchdown No. 1 was a 17-yarder four minutes into the third quarter to give the Lions a 17-7 lead. Rushing touchdown No. 2 saw him punch it in from a yard out to put his team up 24-10.
The Jets stormed back, however, to tie the game at 24-all with 4:06 to go behind an outstanding catch by Garrett Wilson on the right sideline that was called a touchdown after further review. Gibbs, though, had the last laugh, as he pulled in Jared Goff’s second touchdown pass as Detroit pulled ahead for good.
The Lions return to the field on Oct. 4 as they visit the Carolina Panthers on Sunday Night Football.
