Former Mississippi State star Jeffery Simmons kicked out of Titans practice for throwing punch

Former Mississippi State standout defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons was kicked out of a Tennessee Titans training camp practice on Tuesday after throwing a punch at right tackle JC Latham.
The Titans’ 4-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle was removed from practice by head coach Robert Saleh after throwing the punch that was directed at Latham. Simmons was escorted out of the practice during the early portion of Titans training camp by assistant defensive line coach Tanzel Smart.
The 29-year-old Simmons, who played at Mississippi State from 2016-18, had been wrapped up with Titans center Austin Schlottman during the fracas before he threw the punch at Latham.
“Our policy is if you throw a punch you’re ejected in the game … same thing with practice,” said Saleh, according to Teresa Walker of the Associated Press. “If you throw (a) punch, you’re out of practice. Bur rather than going to the locker room, he went to the other field. He still got his work in. So, the projected reps and the work that he would have gotten, he got in off to the side.”
Saleh, starting his first season as the Titans’ head coach, also said that he wants his team to “toe a line of being aggressive and call it instigating if you want.”
Simmons was a first-team All-Pro selection last season and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2021, 2022, 2024 and last season.
He was a first-team All-SEC selection for the Bulldogs in 2017 and 2018.
