Kyler Murray’s first start as a member of the Minnesota Vikings was cut short just minutes into a Week 1 game against the rival Green Bay Packers.
It happened with six minutes remaining in the first quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium. As Murray scrambled with the football, he slid down to the ground. As he did, however, he was sandwiched between a pair of Packer defenders.
Murray remained on the ground while being tended to by trainers, but eventually left the game. The Vikings later ruled him out with a concussion.
Murray signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with Minnesota in the offseason after spending the first seven years of his professional career with the Arizona Cardinals. He totaled 20,460 yards, 121 touchdowns, and 60 interceptions while adding 3,193 yards and 57 touchdowns on the ground. His 2025 season was cut short by a foot injury in Week 5.
After his contract expired with Arizona, Murray ventured to the Twin Cities seeking a fresh start. But his first game with his new team has gotten off to a rough start, as a concussion has brought his afternoon to an end after just nine minutes.
