The Tennessee Titans are having to make tough decisions over the next couple of weeks, just like every team is in the NFL during this time.
One of the biggest decisions that Tennessee had to make was what to do with Treylon Burks. The former No. 1 wide receiver has had a tough start to his NFL career, and he was hoping to finally have a breakout season this year.
However, during training camp on Saturday, he broke his collarbone while pulling down a pass. With the injury, he was going to miss the start of the season, but the Titans made the decision to go ahead and waive him with an injury designation.
Burks was the No. 18 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Titans, and he entered with big shoes to fill. Tennessee got that first round pick by trading star receiver AJ Brown to Philadelphia.
The trade has been a major loss for the Titans, as Burks has only 53 catches for 699 yards and 1 touchdown in 3 injury-plagued seasons. Brown, on the other hand, has had 3 straight seasons of at least 1,079 yards and 7 touchdowns, while also winning the Super Bowl with the Eagles last year.
It is a new era in Tennessee, as the team drafted quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Titans have a new general manager in Mike Borgonzi, who was hired in January of this year. He wasn’t the guy that brought in Burks during that trade, and now he appears ready to move on.
