Ole Miss has made its decision, Keith Carter will remain as the school’s athletics director.

The news was officially announced on Friday morning.

Following Ross Bjork’s departure from Ole Miss to Texas A&M, Carter has been serving as the school’s interim AD. Now he has been selected to run the program on a full-time basis.

Not only does Carter have experience as a staffer in Oxford, but he was also an athlete in Oxford, which should give him a unique perspective on the players he will be working with in the years to come. Carter was a four-year starter on the basketball in Oxford from 1996-1999

The school plans on broadcasting Carter’s introduction as AD live on SEC Network + at 1 p.m. CST. The broadcast can also be found at OleMissSports.com.

Carter released the following statement thanking Ole Miss for the opportunity:

“I want to thank Chancellor Boyce for his trust in me to lead this great athletics program forward. In my time as a student-athlete and an administrator, I have experienced championship heights at Ole Miss, and I will work to provide the leadership and resources necessary for our teams to compete at that level year in and year out.”

Carter has been serving in the Ole Miss athletic department in some capacity since 2009.
