Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss continue to see competition at quarterback ahead of this week’s game at Georgia Tech.

While Luke Altmyer suffered an upper body injury last week, the battle remains open, Kiffin said on the SEC coaches media teleconference.

“They’re both still young, second year of college, we’re hoping we can improve this week,” Kiffin said of the quarterbacks, and noted Jaxson Dart competing with Altmyer. “I think he’s fine. He understands the competition and it’s wide open. I see both guys playing.”

Kiffin praised the running backs, as the top 3 rushers so far are Quinshon Judkins, Zach Evans and Ulysses Bentley IV. They’ve combined for 422 yards on the ground so far.

“All 3 of those guys, they’re all new, they’ve all done really good things, touchdowns, explosive plays. … Really glad we have those guys,” Kiffin said.

As for Georgia Tech, Kiffin said, “Really big matchup, really talented team that had Clemson on the ropes there in the third quarter…Really good quarterback, talented run and pass, well-coached defense.”
