Lane Kiffin has Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff picture as an 8-1 team heading into a top-10 showdown with Georgia. If the Rebels make the final 4, they could face a Michigan team dealing with a high-profile scandal.

Kiffin was asked about allegations that Michigan stole signs during a Tuesday appearance on “SportsCenter.” While he doesn’t know the specifics, Kiffin said the reported details of the operation would be alarming if established to be true.

“Obviously they happen in games and coaches talk to each other, but that’s a whole other animal, the accusations there,” Kiffin said on ESPN. “That would dramatically change how you perform as a team and dramatically change what your record would be. I don’t know any details of it, but those would be severe things if those were true.”

Michigan staffer Connor Stalions was initially suspended and then resigned from the football program. According to reports, Stalions purchased tickets for people to attend games of Michigan opponents and film the sideline.

While sign-stealing is not against NCAA rules, in-person scouting of future opponents is prohibited. Stalions’ ticket purchases reportedly included non-Big Ten teams such as Georgia and Tennessee that Michigan identified as potential Playoff opponents.

For now, Kiffin and his staff have their hands full getting ready to face Georgia. Kickoff in Athens is set for 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.
