Lane Kiffin and new Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding have apparently received some good news from the transfer portal on Friday.

Monty Montgomery, a member of the Louisville football program for 4 seasons, has reportedly transferred to the Rebels, according to The Score’s Jordan Schultz.

An Atlanta-area product, Montgomery was rated by 247Sports as the No. 13 outside linebacker in the class of 2019 when he signed with the Cardinals. He saw the field right away as a true freshman, playing in every game while being credited with 23 tackles and a team-high 5.0 sacks. In his sophomore season in 2020, he posted 46 stops and 4.0 sacks, again leading the team in the latter category. He also totaled 7.5 TFLs.

Following a torn ACL in 2021, he returned in 2022 and was 2nd among Cardinals defenders with 70 tackles. His 11.0 TFLs was 3rd on the team, while his 6.0 sacks ranked 4th. He also had a pair of interceptions.

He now appears to be headed to the SEC, where he’ll be a key addition to the Rebels’ linebacker corps.
