Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss is taking shape in Oxford. The Rebels announced three hires: Jeff Lebby (offensive coordinator), Kevin Smith (assistant coach) and Wilson Love (head strength and conditioning coach). All three hires had been previously reported, but were made official Thursday.

Lebby, who was also the Knights quarterbacks coach, joined the UCF staff in 2017 and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019. Lebby’s background includes various staff positions at Baylor (passing game coordinator, offensive recruiting coordinator, running backs coach, assistant director of football operations). Lebby was named FootballScoop’s Running Backs Coach of the Year in 2013 after coaching Baylor’s first back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers. In between Baylor and UCF, he served one season as the offensive coordinator for Southeastern University, an NAIA program.

Kiffin had mentioned at his Monday press conference that he would be bringing Smith and Love along from his Florida Atlantic staff. Smith, who was FAU’s running backs coach, is a former NFL running back who played five seasons for the Detroit Lions following his collegiate playing career at UCF.

Love, a former defensive lineman at Alabama, graduated from UA in 2013 and joined the Crimson Tide staff as a defensive graduate assistant in 2014. He then served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for them from 2015-16. He joined Kiffin’s staff at FAU as the head strength and conditioning coach prior to the 2017 season.
