Ole Miss is picking up some steam on the recruiting trail. Just 2 days after landing 4-star defensive lineman Jeffery Rush out of Pascagoula, the Rebels have hit on another in-state prospect for the defensive side of the ball.

Ellisville (Miss.) Jones College linebacker Raymond Collins announced his commitment to Ole Miss on Monday. Collins is a JUCO prospect in the 2024 class who held offers from Akron, Arkansas State, and Southern Miss.

Defensive coordinator Pete Golding is trusting his own eyes here, with Ole Miss being the first to offer the 6-foot-2, 235-pound ‘backer. That fact seems to have meant a lot to Collins. He was just on a visit to Oxford over the weekend.

As a freshman at Jones College last season, Collins recorded 46 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He also has a 4.6 40-yard dash time to his name.

Collins does not yet have a rating from either 247Sports or the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the 6th known commitment for Ole Miss in the 2024 class.
