Ole Miss is getting a nice upgrade to its video and audio systems, courtesy of Daktronics (no relation to former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott).

The Rebels asked Daktronics to provide four new LED video displays for Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, according to an Ole Miss press release. The request is part of a campus-wide project that aims to bring 11 new displays that will affect seven different sports and eight campus facilities.

“This project is a key part of improving the overall fan experience at multiple venues across our entire campus, and we’re excited to partner with Daktronics to make it happen,” said Ole Miss Athletics Director Ross Bjork, according to the release. “We’re constantly striving to provide the best for our student-athletes and fans, and this new equipment is as dynamic and engaging as any in the country. We’re looking forward to the fall sports seasons kicking off to see everything in action.”

Vaught-Hemingway’s new main display will be 48 feet high and 104.5 feet wide in the north end zone. There will also be two smaller screens in the south end zone, which will each be 30 feet high and 49 feet wide.

The stadium will also receive 33 large speakers and 302 outdoor loudspeakers as well as an upgrade to the digital and amplification systems.

“This is an exciting project that impacts multiple venues on campus and we’re proud to be a part of it,” said Daktronics sales representative Andrew Rice. “It’s a testament to our team’s project management and coordination to be able to tackle a project of this size and magnitude. The results will pay dividends when Rebels fans see the displays during the various events held on campus.”

Other sports affected by the project include baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, track and field and volleyball.
