As expected, there has been a lot of fallout in the aftermath of Hugh Freeze’s resignation from Ole Miss after reports surfaced that he used his university-issued phone to call an escort service.

One of the more unfortunate side effects of the scandal is that the Freeze Foundation, which helps orphans and needy children around the world, faces an uncertain future and has already taken down its Twitter account and website, according to a USA TODAY report.

Alice Blackmon, the executive director of the Freeze Foundation, told USA TODAY that she believes the charity will eventually carry on in its mission to help orphans and other needy children:

“Coach Freeze, the man that I know, is just completely genuine and has a pure heart of gold for our mission, which is helping orphans and needy children,” Blackmon said. “So that’s where he is. He’s that same person today, regardless of what happened.”

Blackmon added that the charity is postponing fundraising “until the dust settles and see where we’re going in the future.”

The report states that the Freeze family donated $275,000 to the charity in 2015, the most recent year with records available.
