Spencer Sanders’ college career is over, according to a report.

Per 247Sports’ Tyler Komis, Sanders is academically ineligible to play for Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30. Walker Howard is now expected to serve as the backup quarterback in the Peach Bowl while Austin Simmons will be elevated to 3rd-string, per the report.

Sanders transferred to Ole Miss last offseason after a four-year stint as the starter at Oklahoma State. However, he lost out on the starting job to Jaxson Dart and played sparingly during the 2023 season.

Sanders completed 19-of-29 passes for 278 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions this season. Sanders is now out of eligibility and is expected to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. If Sanders is drafted, he would become the first former Ole Miss QB to be selected in the NFL Draft since Matt Corral in 2022.

In 4 years at Oklahoma State, Sanders completed 61% of his passes for 9,553 yards, 67 touchdowns and 40 interceptions. He led Oklahoma State to four straight bowl games, including a Fiesta Bowl victory over Notre Dame at the end of the 2021 season.

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held from April 25-27.
