When the 2018 season starts, Jordan Ta’amu is, barring injury, going to be the starter at quarterback for the Ole Miss Rebels.

However, the Rebels may have their next star quarterback on campus already, in the form of 2018 4-star signee Matt Corral.

On Wednesday, Ta’amu spoke with reporters and discussed what it’s been like having Corral behind him on the depth chart this summer (via Ole Miss Rebels on YouTube):

“He’s just been there to always push me and I show him the offense,” Ta’amu said. “We go compete, back and forth, and have friendly competition. Just having him under my wing, he’s a good guy. He knows the offense well, and my job is just to teach him along the way. Whenever I see something bad happen out there, I just tell him to shake it off or I tell him what to do. He’s a quick learner, so he’ll get the job done fast.”

It’ll be interesting to see how much playing time, if any, Corral gets this fall. If the Rebels are up big over certain opponents, fans will likely want to see how the elite recruit performs.
