Though Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield just won the 2017 Heisman Trophy, it isn’t too soon to start thinking ahead to the 2018 award.

Preseason favorites often have a tough time living up to expectations, but it isn’t impossible. The Associated Press put together a list of names to watch next season, and it included mentions of a few SEC quarterbacks.

Assuming Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham and Mizzou’s Drew Lock don’t declare for the 2018 NFL Draft, here are the four SEC quarterbacks the AP thinks will have a chance at the Heisman next year:

  • Nick Fitzgerald, Mississippi State
  • Jalen Hurts, Alabama
  • Drew Lock, Missouri
  • Jarrett Stidham, Auburn

All four of those players are dynamic, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see any of them make it all the way to the ceremony in New York City at this time next year.

Will any of the SEC players win the award? That remains to be seen, but there’s a good chance the conference could at least have one player invited to the ceremony.
