Former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze has landed a new coaching role about a year after his resignation from coaching the Rebels.

Freeze, who did some consulting for teams last season, will join the new spring football league, the Alliance of American Football and coach with the Arizona Hotshots as offensive coordinator, according to Jeff Metcalfe of AZ Central Sports. Rick Neuheisel is the head coach of the Hotshots.

The league schedule is set to start the week after the Super Bowl.

In an interview with Sirius XM ESPNU about a month ago, Freeze said he certainly wanted to get back into coaching “I’m doing some consulting here and there for some different schools and Jill and I are doing a good bit of speaking.”

“I do think I have some great ideas offensively and I’ve got some more I haven’t used yet,” he said. “Having a year off you can really come up with a lot of things and think it’s going to be really good when you have a chance to run it.”

The Hotshots don’t currently have any former SEC players on their roster, but the league has plenty.
