The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft has come and gone and four quarterbacks have been fortunate enough to hear their names called during the process.

Joe Burrow started the draft off as the No. 1 pick to the Bengals, Tua Tagovailoa went No. 5 to the Dolphins, Justin Herbert went No. 6 to the Chargers and Jordan Love proved to be the shock of the first round after going No. 26 to the Green Bay Packers.

With several touted quarterbacks remaining on the board, including Jalen Hurts, Jake Fromm and Jacob Eason, which signal-caller is most likely to be selected next in the draft?

NBC Sports NFL analyst Chris Simms was asked which quarterback was the best available heading into Day 2 of the draft during a Friday appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” and he offered up a name that’s likely to surprise most college football fans.

“Best quarterback available, I think for me is the kid [Jake] Luton from Oregon State,” Simms answered. “You know me, my opinion isn’t the same as everybody else. I look at him as good size, good arm, really consistent, accurate, decision-maker, can throw with a little power and anticipation. I think he’s the next guy up for me that I look at to go. I would take a chance on him.

“It’s either him or [Jake] Eason from Washington, it’s one of those two. Eason is a little raw, Dan, but does have a big-time arm.”

Raise your hand if you’ve ever heard of Jake Luton. If you’ve got your hand up, get ready to hear that name called for the first time on Friday. At least, that’s the way Simms sees it playing out.
