EA Sports offered some good news regarding participation in its optional player compensation agreement on Thursday.

Thursday was the first day that student-athletes could opt-in to EA Sports’ player compensation agreement. The deal allows players’ names likenesses to appear in EA’s updated game, which is set to be released this summer. The agreement will provide players who opt-in with $600 each as well as a copy of EA Sports College Football 25.

According to John Reseburg, a vice president at EA Sports, more than 5,000 players have opted in on Day 1 across 134 FBS programs. Even more players are expected to sign the agreement in the coming days and weeks.

EA Sports released a teaser trailer for the game earlier this month. The game manufacturer said a “full reveal” for the game is coming in May with a release date targeted for this summer.

This release will mark the return of EA’s college football video game franchise after nearly a decade off the shelves. The game, which was last released in 2013, was discontinued due to lawsuits surround players’ name, image and likeness.
