FOX Sports Big Noon Kickoff says SEC has nation’s top 2 WRs
By SDS Staff
Published:
The SEC had some prolific wide receivers in 2019.
LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase led all pass catchers with 84 catches for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns, while Alabama receiver DeVonta Smith caught 68 passes for 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns. Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy and LSU’s Justin Jefferson also recorded over 1,000 yards receiving each, too.
Jeudy and Jefferson are gone — along with South Carolina’s Bryan Edwards and Tennessee’s Jauan Jennings, but Chase and Smith are back for their respective teams.
So, where do they stack up among the best in college football?
FOX Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff which features Urban Meyer, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart ranked the top 5 pass catchers in the nation, and Chase and Smith were ranked No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. Purdue’s Rondale Moore, Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace and Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman rounded out the top 5.
