Greg McElroy called out on social media for saying Penn State would be 'middle of the SEC'
Auburn is 2-1 after a 28-20 loss to Penn State on Saturday.
Bryan Harsin and the Tigers knew they’d enter a hostile environment as they were the Nittany Lions’ first “White Out” opponent since 2019 and just the 3rd non-conference team to ever play in the game. And while they hung in, they were forced to take the flight back to Alabama with their 1st loss of the season. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions held serve at Beaver Stadium and sent their fans home happy.
The game was a topic of discussion on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday as Paul Finebaum welcomed Greg McElroy to the program. After the Penn State victory, how would James Franklin’s team stack up if it was in the SEC?
“I would have them in the middle of the [conference],” McElroy said.
It was an interesting take, and one that earned the former Alabama quarterback some heat on social media, mainly from Penn State and Big Ten fans.
Sure lol. Penn State would destroy Texas A&M the only 2 SEC school can beat Penn State us Georgia and Alabama https://t.co/jGCcc4yW93

Texas A&M struggled with Colorado who Minnesota just beat 30-0 but by all means keep telling me how great they are. https://t.co/Y8pYC7clQ0

It is funny how upset SEC fans get when they lose to Northerners. It is your destiny.

Auburn’s next game is at Jordan-Hare Stadium as it takes on Georgia State. Meanwhile, Penn State will get a reprieve for its Week 4 contest as it welcomes in-state FCS opponent Villanova.
