It costs a lot of money to build a competitive football team, so pumping money into the recruiting coffers is important.

This week, Stadium obtained some financial documents from major colleges, and nine SEC teams were included.

Here’s how much each of those SEC programs spent on recruiting and where they ranked nationally:

  • Georgia — $2,626,622 — No. 1
  • Texas A&M — $1,710,101 — No. 4
  • LSU — $1,287,344 — No. 8
  • Florida — $1,155,802 — No. 11
  • South Carolina — $861,747 — No. 19
  • Kentucky — $791,863 — No. 21
  • Ole Miss — $704,836 — No. 28
  • Mizzou — $685,834 — No. 30
  • Mississippi State — $453,116 — No. 45

The report notes that “football recruiting data for Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee is unavailable since public records requests in those states are limited to residents.” Vanderbilt also doesn’t have to release financials, since it is a private institution.

That’s a lot of money flying around, but the SEC is a very profitable football conference.
