LOOK: Auburn, Tennessee fans react to rumors connecting Hugh Freeze to open FBS job
On Monday, Liberty coach Turner Gill announced he was retiring, leaving yet another head coaching vacancy at the FBS level.
Now, former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze is being mentioned in conjunction with the opening and that is upsetting a couple of SEC fanbases.
Freeze is also a target for offensive coordinator jobs at Tennessee (currently open) and Auburn (expected to open soon).
As you can see below, there is already a lot of speculation about Freeze heading to Liberty for a spell, and there is also a bit of reaction from Auburn and Tennessee fans who would rather he return to the SEC:
Speaking of Hugh Freeze, I have said for like a year that I could see this happening. Remember his first big public appearance after getting fired was at Liberty. https://t.co/1zQ2DPY0Hs

Effective immediately, Liberty University Head Football Coach Turner Gill announced that he's retiring from coaching football. Hugh Freeze will be mentioned as a possible replacement. The Flames are scheduled to play at Ole Miss on November 13, 2021. pic.twitter.com/kiSiwoLPMV

If Hugh freeze goes to Liberty I’m deleting my account and never watching UT football again.

I wonder if there is any legs to Hugh Freeze to Liberty University with Turner Gill retiring as the head coach…….

I'll give you that.
I won't worry until I see Freeze go to Liberty. That would pretty much guarantee a third tier hire for us.
