Four SEC teams will take on non-conference opponents Saturday, including Vanderbilt, which will take the short drive south on Interstate 65 to Murfreesboro to battle Middle Tennessee State.

Here is a look at some players who will look to put a win up against a Southeastern Conference foe.

Tyler Ervin, San Jose State, RB, Sr.: Auburn had to face Leonard Fournette a couple of weeks ago, but Saturday it gets a back that has accomplished something even Fournette hasn’t this year.

Ervin had a career day in the Spartans’ win against Fresno State, rushing for 300 yards and three touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 177-pound Ervin has run for nine touchdowns already this season and he is averaging 160.2 yards per game and 6.7 yards per run.

He also has 16 catches for 137 more yards and another touchdown. Ervin averages 34.2 yards per game receiving.

Last season he was named an honorable mention All-American by SI.com.

Anthony Brown, Eastern Michigan, DB, Jr.: In just four games under his belt at EMU, the Iowa City, Iowa, native already has made a splash for the Eagles.

He has 27 total tackles (15 of them solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble.

Brown spent the last two seasons at Iowa Western Community College, where he helped his team to a 22-2 record in his time there. IWCC finished No. 2 in the nation his freshman season.

He has improved each week for the 1-3 Eagles, recording nine tackles in each of his last two games. He now gets the chance to try to add to that total against a dominant LSU rushing attack.

Brent Stockstill, Middle Tennessee State, QB, RFr.: Although he is the son of Blue Raiders head coach Rick Stockstill, his rise to become the starting quarterback was not nepotism.

The redshirt freshman already has thrown for 1,221 yards this season and 12 touchdowns. His passer rating is 167.49 and he averages 305.2 yards per game.

Stockstill has racked up those numbers against decent competition and the Blue Raiders losses have come against Alabama and Illinois.

His talent might be genetic. Rick Stockstill was a quarterback at Florida State for coach Bobby Bowden.

Vanderbilt had better repeat its defensive effort from last week against Ole Miss to avoid a loss.

Stanley Absanon, Eastern Kentucky, DB, Sr.: The senior is a triple threat for the Colonels that must be accounted for by Kentucky.

Defensively, he has 11 total tackles, one for loss, he has broken up three passes and intercepted a pass in the season-opening win over Valparaiso which he returned 56 yards for a touchdown.

As a punt returner, Absanon is averaging 17.2 yards per return.

He has also returned five kickoffs and averages 27.2 yards and he has taken one back 62 yards for the 2-1 Colonels.
