As the season winds down at Charlotte, there appears to be a coaching change coming.

Brad Lambert, who started the program, is expected to part ways with the school soon, according to a report from Football Scoop. Charlotte (4-7) ends the season at FAU Saturday, but it’s not immediately clear if the change would be made before that game, or if Lambert would coach in it.

In six seasons as coach, Lambert won 21 games. In FCS competition their first two seasons the 49ers won five games both seasons, but after a transition to FBS, the last four seasons the team has won two, four, one and four games respectively.

Lambert took the offer to start the program in early 2011. He previously had served on Wake Forest’s staff for a decade, the final three seasons as defensive coordinator.

Football Scoop added in the report that coaches in recent years believe Charlotte can compete for C-USA championships as the facilities are new, the campus is great, the enrollment is large. They just need the right players.
