On Wednesday, it was widely reported that Miami QB Jarren Williams would transfer. A day later, it appears he has changed his mind and will stick with the Hurricanes.

“Coach Mark Richt and Coach Jon Richt convinced Jarren to stay,” father Anthony Williams told 247Sports. “They convinced him to stay by laying out a path he’ll have an opportunity to compete and play in the 2019 season.”

It will be interesting to see if playing in 2019 means facing Florida in Week 1 of the 2019 season. The Gators were one of two SEC programs paying close attention to the Williams news.

Some wondered if the one-time Kentucky commit had decided he wanted to be a Wildcat again. The former 4-star dual-threat quarterback recruit backed off of his UK pledge in November 2017 after visiting Miami campus.

Keeping Williams is a victory for Richt in an offseason that has gotten off to a rough start with several decommitments and Manny Diaz leaving to become Temple’s head coach.
