After announcing his commitment to Tennessee in April, it looked as though defensive back Shaq Wiggins would end his career back in the SEC East.

The former Georgia defender left the Bulldogs after his freshman season and followed defensive coordinator Todd Grantham over to Louisville. After Grantham accepted the open defensive coordinator position at Mississippi State, Wiggins again announced his intentions to transfer.

Wiggins was thought to have ended his recruitment period when he announced his commitment to the Vols on April 26, but things appear to have taken an interesting turn. According to reports, Wiggins has taken a visit to Mississippi State.

Many speculated that Wiggins would follow Grantham to Mississippi State as he had Louisville. The Bulldogs have a completely revamped defense in place heading into 2017, and Wiggins would likely be able to step in immediately.

For now, there’s no indication on if this means anything in regards to his commitment to Tennessee. It’s hard to imagine that the Vols’ coaching staff, unless previously informed, is pleased with this turn of events.
