Want to someday play in the National Football League? Well then you had better first attend a Southeastern Conference school.

According to the NFL, LSU had the most active players on NFL rosters during the opening weekend with 38, while four of the top five colleges were from the SEC.

Alabama rose from tied for seventh place to third, Georgia remained fourth and Florida made a big jump from 12th to tied for fifth. When Nick Saban took over the Crimson Tide in 2007, it wasn’t listed among the top 25 programs.

Surprisingly, Michigan rose the most, from tied for 24th to tied for 15th, while seeing significant drops were Miami from third to eighth, and Texas from fifth to 12th.

Last year Southern California topped the list with 40 players.

A total of 247 colleges were represented on active rosters, which did not include players on any reserve lists or practice squads.
