The Southeastern Conference announce its Player of the Week awards following an eventful Week 8 of college football action.

Here’s a look into those who were recognized:

  • Offensive Player of the Week: QB Jayden Daniels, LSU
  • Defensive Player of the Week: DB Darius Rush, South Carolina
  • Special Teams Player of the Week: KR Xavier Legette, South Carolina
  • Co-Freshman Player of the Week: WR Luther Burden, Missouri
  • Co-Freshman Player of the Week: LB Harold Perkins, LSU
  • Offensive Lineman of the Week: OG Jerome Carvin, Tennessee
  • Defensive Lineman of the Week: DT Mekhi Wingo, LSU

Daniels was among the most impressive of this list and has been one of the SEC’s best stories this year as he’s shown tremendous improvement as a passer this year. In this past week’s 45-20 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, he completed 21-of-28 passes for 248 yards and added 121 rushing yards.

Daniels also cecame first quarterback in LSU history to rush for 100 yards and pass for 200 yards in same game twice in a single season.

Expect him to continue to garner more attention as the season progresses.
