Penalties don’t lead to success in college football. So for teams that see a lot of yellow flags during a game, it’s usually not a good sign.

Which SEC teams are getting flagged the most through six weeks of the season? CFBStats.com tallies penalties every week, so it has the answer.

Currently, Missouri is the team with the most penalty yards per game, as it’s averaging 70.6 yards a game. However, it is tied for second in most penalties per game with Georgia at 7.4, while Vanderbilt leads that category at 7.6.

The Commodores are 1-4, so it’s possible all those penalties are contributing to their struggles. However, Georgia is 5-0 and Missouri is 4-1, so those teams have been winning despite getting penalized quite frequently.
