Continuing our late-season daily series looking at the recruiting circuit in the SEC, we analyze the conference’s top punter commits for the 2015 recruiting class. Field position flippers are a necessity in the SEC and these kids have a leg comparable to some of the best nationally.

SEC’s Top Commits Series

Using each player’s 247Sports Composite rating, here’s how the SEC’s top punters commits stack up and where they stand nationally against other standouts at the same position:

1. SOUTH CAROLINA — Joseph Charlton, 6-4, 180, Columbia, S.C., Three-Star (1): The Gamecocks’ punting duties have been annually woeful during the Steve Spurrier era, but they’re taking steps to bolster their special teams unit next season with the addition of the nation’s top-ranked punter in their own backyard. Charlton has a strong leg and handles place-kicking duties for A.C. Flora High as well.

2. AUBURN — Ian Shannon, 6-4, 190, Marietta, Ga., Three-Star (2)

3. ARKANSAS — Blake Johnson, 6-1, 190, Los Alamitos, Ca., Two-Star (4)

4. MIZZOU — Corey Fatony, 5-11, 190, Franklin, Tenn., Two-Star (5)

5. TENNESSEE — Tommy Townsend, 6-1, 175, Orlando, Fla., Two-Star (6)
