As we head into June, summer workouts are about to be in full swing for every SEC team, and college football is less than three months away; that’s a beautiful thing.
Coaches don’t get to spend much time with players until fall camp starts in August, and strength and conditioning coaches and team leaders now have the biggest impact.
This year, several marquee week one matchups have opening lines, but several games still haven’t been listed: Eastern Illinois vs. Arkansas, Charleston Southern vs. Florida, Austin Peay vs. Georgia, Stephen F. Austin vs. Mississippi State, UT Martin vs. Missouri and Northwestern State vs. Texas A&M. All SEC teams will be heavy favorites in those.
Here are the updated Week 1 lines, via the Westgate Superbook:
- Alabama (-25.5) vs. Louisville
- Washington vs. Auburn (-3)
- Central Michigan vs. Kentucky (-17)
- Miami (-2.5) vs. LSU
- Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech (-1.5)
- Coastal Carolina vs. South Carolina (-29.5)
- West Virginia (-9) vs. Tennessee
- Middle Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt (-6.5)
Arguably the most interesting week one matchup is Washington vs. Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff. The Huskies and Tigers both have College Football Playoff potential, and we’ll know right off the bat whether Washington is a contender or pretender.
