With less than two months before college football returns, ESPN has updated its Football Power Index.

The index ranked every team in the FBS and teams from each conference were scattered throughout the rankings. The SEC had several teams inside the top 20, which was what other conferences had for their best programs.

Alabama came in at the top spot, while six other schools checked in inside the top 20. On the opposite end of the list, Vanderbilt ranked outside of the top 100:

  • No. 1 – Alabama
  • No. 3 – Georgia
  • No. 10 – LSU
  • No. 11 – Auburn
  • No. 12 – Texas A&M
  • No. 17 – Ole Miss
  • No. 18 – Kentucky
  • No. 24 – Mississippi State
  • No. 25 – Tennessee
  • No. 26 – Arkansas
  • No. 29 – Florida
  • No. 45 – South Carolina
  • No. 56 – Missouri
  • No. 108 – Vanderbilt

Each team outside of Alabama will try to improve upon its ranking for the 2022 season. This power index could see drastic changes for the SEC schools during the season.
