Mike Davis, Dylan Thompson and Busta Anderson are together again.

This time, on the same offense in the NFL — at least for rookie mini-camp.

Three of the focal points on South Carolina’s school record-breaking unit last fall are heading to San Francisco where they’ll rejoin the program’s 2013 leading receiver Bruce Ellington for the time being. Davis has a near automatic roster spot as the 49ers’ fourth-round pick, but Anderson must prove his worth as a late seventh-rounder while Thompson tries to find his way as one of the SEC’s 50-plus undrafted free agent signings.

For the third consecutive draft and fourth time in five years, the 49ers have called on former Gamecocks to help the franchise. Before selecting safety and eventual multi-year starter Chris Culliver in 2011, San Francisco hadn’t drafted a South Carolina player since since Ed Pitts in 1960.

During Steve Spurrier’s tenure at South Carolina, 35 Gamecocks have been drafted and the 49ers’ five selections is two more than the next closest franchise. Spurrier is college football’s active leader with 104 all-time draft selections.
