Jerome Simmons is coming home after a stint in junior college, as the defensive lineman on Monday announced a commitment to play for the Gamecocks.

Simmons is a 2024 JUCO defensive lineman out of Bamberg (S.C.), who played in the JUCO ranks at Highland C.C. The 247Sports JUCO Composite rates him as a 3-star DL that is the No. 6 player at his position and No. 2 in the state. He picked the Gamecocks over Georgia and Louisiana, where he reportedly visited on Dec. 1.

The recent South Carolina pledge decided to commit early after visiting this past weekend. The Gamecocks didn’t have to look to too far for their latest commitment.

“After a great visit this weekend with Gamecock Football I have decided to commit early and come back home,” Simmons wrote. “Let’s get to work.”

Simmons is Shane Beamer’s 1st JUCO and defensive lineman commit from the 2024 class. The Gamecocks lost some defensive line depth after Felix Hixon and Xzavier McLeod went to the transfer portal once it opened on Dec. 4.
