On Saturday night, the South Carolina Gamecocks will host the Clemson Tigers in a big-time rivalry game that has serious bowl and College Football Playoff implications.

It will be a prominent rivalry on a national scale, but more eyes will likely be watching the Iron Bowl between No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Auburn.

On Wednesday, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney joined ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM and said the intensity between the teams in the two rivalries is the same:

“The intensity, within this state, it’s the same,” he said. “If you live in this state, if you’re born in this state, you have to choose. There’s no pro sports in Alabama, there’s no pro sports in South Carolina. There’s just a lot of pride in their football.”

Clemson needs a win against the No. 24 Gamecocks on Saturday to stay in the College Football Playoff picture. However, it won’t be easy to go into Williams-Brice Stadium and beat the talented Gamecocks.

Check out Saturday night’s action at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN.
