Alshon Jeffery set to be released by the Eagles

Alshon Jeffery’s time in Philadelphia is coming to an end.

That’s the latest from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport who is reporting that the Eagles plan to release Jeffery and DeSean Jackson.

“The Eagles will also be releasing Alshon Jeffery when the league year begins, which has been obvious for quite a while. A much younger group for 2021,” Rapoport reported.

While Jackson is expected to be cut this week, according to Rapoport, Jeffery won’t be released until March 17 when the 2021 NFL league year begins.

Jeffery has spent the previous four seasons with the Eagles. During that time, the receiver has caught 171 passes for 2,237 yards and 20 touchdowns for the team.

For his NFL career, Jeffery has 827 catches, 6,786 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns. Jeffery entered the league after being selected in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.
