Shane Beamer understands what a big win does for building a program, and giving the players a chance to build confidence along with generating fan excitement.

But the most valuable fallout from that kind of victory against Florida, in this case, is the recruiting ripple effect, and Beamer said it’s been impactful already. South Carolina had a big turnout of recruits at the game, some for the first time, and some returnees.

“A lot of prospects that weren’t at the game that I had text messages from right afterwards. And then frankly, I’ll be honest with you,” Beamer said at his Tuesday press conference, “some guys early in the summer time, or I’d say early in the season, I couldn’t get them to return a text, or answer a phone call, whatever it might be, and some of those guys are showing some interest. So I think it’s a great statement about where we are now, where we’re going. And if anything, I think a lot of these prospects from talking to them, were just they loved the way that our young men played, and the passion they played with, and how hard they played, and the love that was evident on the field and that sideline for each other.”

Inside the building, Beamer also said that the win has served as a teaching example. The coaching staff can now point to all the things the Gamecocks did leading up to the game that allowed them to play like they did.

“Not just last week, but the week before in practice, the way that our guys practiced,” Beamer said.
