South Carolina struggled mightily when it came to kicking field goals this season, making only 13 of its 25 attempts while switching between freshmen kickers Alexander Woznick and Parker White.

It appears coach Will Muschamp wasn’t willing to go into the 2018 season with those two handling the kicking duties, so he went out and landed a graduate transfer.

According to a tweet posted on Friday afternoon, former Kent State K Shane Hynes will join the South Carolina program next season as a graduate transfer:

Interestingly, Hynes is only 31-of-48 in three years at Kent State, though he does have a long of 48 yards, which came against Louisville this year.

He’ll need to improve over the offseason to earn the starting job, but with his experience over the past three years, he would seemingly have the inside track over White and Woznick.
