South Carolina basketball picks up 2nd transfer commitment

Frank Martin has picked up another transfer for his South Carolina basketball team.

George Mason transfer AJ Wilson announced his pledge to the Gamecocks on Wednesday via his Twitter account.

Wilson was named to the A-10 All-Defensive Team for the 2020-21 season. He ranked second in the conference and in the top-25 nationally in blocks (2.3 per game) and became Mason’s all-time leader in career blocks (212) in his final game against Davidson.

Wilson played in 21 games this past season, averaging 7.8 points over 22.9 minutes per game, shooting 39.7 percent from the field. The 6-7, 230-pound forward averaged 5 rebounds a game this season.

On Saturday, Columbia native and Murray State University transfer Chico Carter Jr. announced his commitment to the Gamecocks.
