South Carolina resecured the commitment of four-star wide receiver Bryan Edwards early Tuesday, Edwards announced on Twitter:

Edwards marks the first commitment for Will Muschamp since he took over at South Carolina. Keeping Edwards was not easy though.

Edwards re-opened his recruiting after Steve Spurrier resigned and it did not look like he would remain with the Gamecocks. Edwards has familial ties to rival Clemson and was torn as he took a visit to Columbia again this past weekend.

That appeared to have done the trick and gotten him to re-affirm his commitment to Muschamp and his new staff at South Carolina.

Edwards is ranked the No. 20 athlete in the country by Rivals and is a huge keep for the Gamecocks, particularly since they were fighting off the Tigers for his commitment.

It was the first of two commitments for South Carolina on the day.

South Carolina secured the commitment of its second recruit of the day with the commitment of Tennessee defensive end Sadarius Hutcherson, he announced on his Twitter page:

Hutcherson is expected to come to South Carolina as an offensive lineman. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Hutcherson is ranked the 34th best strongside defensive end prospect in the country according to 247 Sports’ composite ranking.

“I wanted to play with the big boys, that’s one of the biggest reasons,” Hutcherson told Gamecock Central. “(Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott is) a great coach. He talks to me all the time, every week, makes sure that I’m doing alright and he came and saw me at our school the other week. He believes in me and in my dreams and what I can do and that’s why I chose South Carolina.”

It seems Will Muschamp is off and running at South Carolina.
