Ethan Petry put any season-opening slump concerns to rest with a big game in No. 25 South Carolina’s 11-4 win over Miami (Ohio) to clinch the opening weekend series.

Petry was 0-for-5 in 2024 before smoking a ball 420 feet over the wall in center field. Petry’s blast, South Carolina’s first home run of the 2024 campaign, extended the Gamecocks lead to 5-1 in the 3rd inning.

Petry started a 5-run Gamecock 5th inning with his second homer of the day, going oppo taco to right center field, making it 6-1.

It’s the fourth multi-homer game for Petry in his young career. As a Freshman All-American, Petry led the Gamecocks with a .376 batting average in 2023. He posted 23 home runs, 75 RBIs and 55 runs scored in his debut season.
