The Big 10’s undefeated start to bowl season has drawn some attention, and that has fired up SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum. Especially through the lens of a comparison with the SEC, which started 1-3.

South Carolina “cannot let Jim Harbaugh beat the SEC,” Finebaum said in an SEC Nation segment alongside Laura Rutledge, Tim Tebow and Marcus Spears that amounted to a motivational locker-room-type speech. “He beat Florida a couple years ago, he beat Florida this year. Do not let him do it.”

Finebaum has never been shy of his opinion for Harbaugh, and he and Harbaugh have had a spirited back and forth, even as far as Harbaugh referring to Finebaum as “Pete” and the SEC’s “water carrier.”

“By the way, South Carolina friends and I’m talking to you Will Muschamp, everybody’s talking about the Big Ten like they’ve already won the national championship,” Finebaum said in a video posted by the SEC Network. “They haven’t won anything yet … so South Carolina, beat these guys. Shut them up. Do it for all of us, including me.”

Add this as another chapter to the SEC-Big Ten debate, and don’t be surprised if it’s referred to in the postgame.
